So Who Is This Guy Anyway?
Jay Malone is a Canadian born comedian, actor, writer & children’s book author who has been making audiences laugh on stage and screen for the past twenty years. He has been nominated as Canada’s best male comedian at the Canadian Comedy Awards and best supporting actor in a comedy series at the Canadian Screen Awards. The more recent nomination was for his work as “Ryan White” in the sitcom Package Deal.
In 2004 Jay won the prestigious Homegrown Competition, a national comedy competition at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal and relocated a year later to Los Angeles. He was featured in several national and international commercial campaigns as well as guest-starring roles on such shows as Boston Legal, NCIS: Los Angeles, Monk, and Dollhouse. In 2009 Jay starred in his own half-hour Showtime comedy special and was also awarded a development deal by FOX for his award winning animated short “Santa Intervention”.
In 2012 Jay was cast as the lead in a Conan O’Brien produced sitcom for TBS. The pilot didn’t get picked up but later that year Jay booked a co-starring role on the CityTV sitcom Package Deal, opposite Harland Williams, Randal Edwards & Julia Voth. The show also featured Eugene Levy, Pamela Anderson and Jason Priestly.
Package Deal ran two seasons and was the culmination of Jay’s dream of being on a sitcom. Having scratched that off the bucket list he promptly left Los Angeles with his wife Jeannette and returned to his home town determined to prove you can live a creative life from anywhere.
Jay continues to perform standup comedy on stage, is working on his third children’s book, and is otherwise busy helping raise three children alongside his infinitely patient wife, Jeannette and parents Bob & Judy who he has made directors of his company Mouthy Primate Inc.
